'As far as my career goes, I studied at Leeds Met, got my first job as a web designer at Emap Radio (Radio Aire, Key 103, Radio City etc) It was definitely a bonus in my first interview that I'd had summer work experience, specialised in digital media for my final degree show, and wrote my dissertation on human/computer interaction.
I didn't stick to web design straight through, as I've also worked as a software designer and a graphic designer, which a couple of years ago was quite a range, but it feels like nowadays design within these disciplines has become more similar.
The biggest challenge and change in the past 5 years has been technology, and it's really important to keep up to date with this as who knows that digital devices we'll be designing for in the next 5 years.'
